Me Like Bees:: the band, the legend, the shoot

Band shoots are just so much fan. Band pictures with Me Like Bees... well now that's a whole different LEVEL of fun.

outtake. One of many ridiculous moments.

Me Like Bees are local celebrities of sorts here in Southwest Missouri, but it's beginning to expand past the region as their popularity gains serious momentum... and as their music just keeps getting better and better. The indie rock band won the 2013 Ernie Ball Battle of the bands and went on to play in the Warped tour in 2014, beating out 20,000 other bands for the spot. TWENTY THOUSAND BANDS. Guys, they're good. Real good. Fans of what might now sadly be referred to as 'old school' early 2000s indie rock (modest mouse and so on) should be delighted by their sound.

But most importantly, my 7 year old son is a HUGE fan, demanding I play "tundraland" on repeat every single time we climb into my minivan. That minivan never feels cooler than it does when these guys are playing in my CD player. Of course, a minivan is never cool no matter what you play in it, so don't take my word for it. Just go listen to these guys.

Anyway. Here's pictures. Big shout out to my friend Victoria for lending us her amazing downtown Joplin MO loft apartment for the shoot; to her son Harry for letting us in (and accidentally breaking his hand in the process), to Harry's girlfriend Darcy for helping out and making sure we didn't break stuff, and of COURSE to Jake Bennett, loyal friend to both me and the Bees. He even got a couple of very rare behind-the-scenes moments of me shooting...

The many facepalms of Tim. As he put it, this is indeed Tim in his natural state.

Jake and I. selfies are really hard to take with real cameras.

shot below is probably my favorite. There were a plethora of mannequins available for posing. And bears.
